There can be a lot of confusion surrounding the way our products are labelled. What does Made in USA mean vs. Manufactured in the USA? If something says "Designed in the USA" on it, does that mean it's Made in USA? What about when a label says "Distributed by:" and then gives a company with a US address?
Luckily, there are many laws laid out by the Federal Trade Commission surrounding the way our products are labelled, and they're all regulated. Click here to visit their official website for even more details, and feel free to check the cheat sheets below!
At Watt's, all products other than some of our clothes (which I'll explain below) are Made in USA. This means:
The more US clothing manufacturers I spoke to, the more I learned why there are so few clothing brands that are truly Made in USA. They all said the same thing; there are not enough fabrics available that are Made in USA.
Looking into it, I discovered that there are in fact very few fabric mills in the US that make fabrics for clothing, and that technical fabrics or fabrics with a huge variety of patterns in particular were not available here (that I could find).
I didn't think it was fair to punish brands for this, as it seems they don't really have a choice.
So instead, and for clothing ONLY, you'll find categories that are Made in USA using imported fabrics. I wanted to keep it easy, so I put them in their own categories just in case you'd like to shop only for Made in USA clothing. The choice is yours - please enjoy!
